Where are we on the prophetic clock of God (Part 1)?

Updated: Jun 22, 2020

Prophetic clock or timeline – this phrase is understood to mean that there are coming events God had planned for the Church, Israel and the world; and how they are going to be fulfilled in chronological order.

In Jehovah’s plan, the Jews always comes first. So it was that Angel Gabriel appeared to Prophet Daniel with a plan for Israel (Daniel 9:24-27). In the plan or program, Jehovah had allocated 70 weeks or 490 years in which He will deal with His covenant people Israel. When the plan was revealed to Daniel, Judah and the city of Jerusalem were in terrible desolation. Jehovah had determined to bring about restoration of the city, and after that to send His Son Yeshua to them.

The chart below lays out the program as described in Daniel 9:24-27.

Briefly, the program has the following features:

1) Duration. It will last 70 weeks or 490 years, where a week equals 7 years.

2) Purpose. At the end of the program, Jehovah intends to:

(i) Finish the transgression

(ii) Make an end of sins

(iii) Make reconciliation for iniquity

(iv) Bring in everlasting righteousness

(v) Seal up vision and prophecy

(vi) Anoint the Most Holy

3) Starting point. The program began with the command or decree to restore and

rebuild Jerusalem. That decree was issued by King Artaxerxes to Nehemiah

(Nehemiah 2:1-8).

4) Completion of the rebuilding of the streets and wall of the city.

5) Appearance of the Messiah in Jerusalem

6) The Messiah was cut-off or crucified.

7) The temple and city of Jerusalem destroyed.

8) The Anti-Christ establish a week (7 years) covenant between Israel and the

Arabs.

9) In the middle of the 7 years, the Anti-Christ stops the Jews from continuing their sacrifice and offering in the temple.

10) The Anti-Christ places an abomination in the temple.

For more explanation on the program, kindly refer to my book: End Time Scenario, Chapter 15, pages 207-220.

Notice that the program did not run continuously. There was an interuption when the Messiah was cut-off or crucified. Since Israel rejected her Messiah, Jehovah decided that His Son Yeshua should turn to the Gentiles instead. He envisage raising up a holy people among the Gentiles nations who will become the Bride of Christ. The period of interruption is known as the Church Age.

After the Rapture, the Church Age comes to an end. Thereafter, Jehovah’s program for Israel will resume where it was discontinued earlier. See the chart below:

So, where are we on the prophetic clock? We are at the closing days of the Church Age, at the twilight zone where the focus is shifting. Jehovah is about to turn His attention from the Gentile world and revert it back towards His ancient people Israel in order to secure their repentance.

The Messiah of the Jews is eager to return back to Jerusalem.
